Household Hazardous Waste

Household Hazardous Waste Collection

Greater Lebanon Refuse Authority is a municipal solid waste landfill, therefore GLRA is NOT allowed to accept Household Hazardous Waste for disposal at its facility located on 1610 Russell Road. However, GLRA sponsors a door-to-door collection of household hazardous waste for Lebanon County residents. For a $15 Co-Pay Lebanon County Residents can schedule a home pick-up of household hazardous waste just by calling 1-800-449-7587.

Due to the significant cost of funding this program, each Lebanon County household is limited to 1 collection per year.

How Does It Work?
Step 1 - Request a Collection
When a resident calls our Household Hazardous Waste Hotline (1-800-449-7587), several questions are asked including the caller's address, and the type and amount of materials they have for collection.

Step 2 - Scheduled Collection Date
A pick-up date is scheduled over the phone based on the next available collection day. The program is fully explained and safety procedures are reviewed. A Household Hazardous Waste (HHW) Kit is mailed to the resident's home prior to the collection date. The Kit can hold up to 75 pounds of HHW securely inside. All HHW materials MUST fit inside the kit. No HHW materials may be left outside the Kit. Waste must be securely contained inside the Kit.

Step 3 - Assigned Collection Date Pick Up

On the scheduled date, At Your Door Special Collection will collect the eligible Household Hazardous Waste materials directly from the resident's home. Participants will receive a postage-paid survey card to be completed and mailed to the County to help track the program.

Step 4 - Waste Transportation

HHW materials will be transported by At Your Door Special Collection to its subcontracted hazardous waste facility, Cycle Chem Inc., located in Lewisberry, Pennsylvania where it will be sorted and packed for recycling or proper disposal.
