How does it work?
  1. Resident calls the HHW Hotline, (800)-HHW-PKUP,
    to request a collection:

When a resident calls our Household Hazardous Waste Hotline
(1-800-449-7587), several questions are asked including the caller's
address, and the type and amount of materials they have for collection.

  2. A collection date is scheduled and an HHW Kit is shipped:
A pick-up date is scheduled over the phone based on the next
available collection day. The program is fully explained and safety
procedures are reviewed. An HHW Kit is shipped to the resident's
home prior to the collection date. The Kit can hold up to 75 pounds
of HHW securely inside. All HHW materials MUST fit inside the kit.
No HHW materials may be left outside the Kit---HHW must be securely
contained inside the Kit. Computers and other electronics
such as computers, TV's, VCR's, etc. must be placed outside the kit.

  3. HHW material and Electronics are collected for a $15.00 Co-Pay
On the scheduled date, Cycle Chem will collect the eligible HHW materials
directly from the resident's home. Participants will receive a postage-paid
survey card to be completed and mailed to the County to help track the program.

  4. HHW/Electronics are transported to the appropriate facility for recycling or disposal:
HHW materials and electronics will be transported by Cycle Chem to its hazardous waste
facility where it will be sorted and packed for recycling or proper disposal.
